Volunteering for the ABR: From Soup to Nuts

Description

The ABR’s mission cannot be fulfilled without the participation of subject matter expert (SME) volunteers who provide their expertise through committee appointments, administering oral exams, and other engagements. During this session, attendees will learn about the committee structure that supports the development of materials for the medical physics exams administered in the Initial Certification process (Part 1 general, Part 1 clinical, and Part 2 specialty written exams, and Part 3 oral exam) and materials for the Continuing Certification program (formerly known as the Maintenance of Certification program) for diplomates. Details such as term lengths, expected engagement, and ABR staff support will be provided. The step-by-step process to become an ABR volunteer will also be described. Finally, volunteer leadership appointments such as membership on the ABR’s Board of Trustees and Board of Governors will also be discussed, along with the expected engagements associated with each of these appointments.
