Dosimetry in Radiopharmaceutical Therapy: Why it matters

Description

This educational session will address why dosimetry is central to modern radiopharmaceutical therapy. It will highlight how fixed-activity approaches emerged historically and why they are increasingly insufficient in the context of therapeutic precision, safety, and regulatory expectations. The first part will focus on broader conceptual and clinical motivations for dosimetry, including treatment individualization, dose–response characterization, normal tissue protection, and how these principles align with standard practices in external beam therapy. The second part will draw directly from AAPM TG-381, summarizing its framework and recommendations for dosimetry in Lutetium-177 therapies.
