Making AI Work: Real-World Implementation Strategies from Clinical Experience

Description

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being introduced into radiation therapy workflows, yet the path from procurement to clinical integration remains challenging. Formal guidance for clinical AI implementation is emerging but lags vendor introduction of these technologies, leaving physicists to navigate clinical integration with limited standardized frameworks. This symposium will bring together medical physicists with real-world experience implementing and using AI across diverse applications including segmentation, treatment planning, and quality assurance. Speakers will present their implementation journeys including local validation and commissioning, workflow integration, staff adoption strategies, and lessons learned. This session will also address designing AI implementations as publishable research through prospective planning and systematic data collection including efficiency metrics and clinical impact data. The final talk in the session will be a collaborative summary generated by all speakers synthesizing key themes and actionable recommendations. The session will conclude with a moderated panel-style Q&A allowing audience engagement on specific implementation challenges relevant to their clinical environments. Attendees will leave with practical frameworks and confidence to successfully implement AI tools in their own clinics.
