Optimizing Technique Selection for Radiography Examinations

Description

This session provides a practical framework for optimizing radiography through physics, quality control, and clinical integration. Topics include the physics of technique selection (kVp/mAs, attenuation, filtration, grids, geometry, and detector metrics), retrospective assessment tools (EI/DI monitoring, reject/repeat analysis, and radiologist feedback), and evolving Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) strategies from vendor defaults and calibration to detector-based and AI-assisted systems. We also address imaging challenges in large patients, including table and detector weight limits, tube capacity, and heat management. Participants will gain actionable approaches to improve image quality and maintain safe, consistent radiographic practice.
