Radiopharmaceutical Trial Program Ramp-up : The University of Miami Experience Described Using the People, Processes, Technology Framework for Organizational Change

Abstract
Purpose

Describe highlights of organizational changes that allowed for the ramp-up of the radiopharmaceutical trials program at the University of Miami Health System (UHealth)

Methods

Organizational change to facilitate the ramp-up of radiopharmaceutical trials at UHealth were undertaken, and presented under the People, Processes, Technology (PPT) Framework.

Results

Implementation of changes under PPT Framework resulted in the alignment of resources which facilitated the ramp-up of the radiopharmaceutical trials program at UHealth. Highlights of "People" changes include aligning Principal Investigators, Committees, and key personnel; "Processes" changes include developing charters/procedures, training, clinical workflows, and quality management programs; "Technology" changes include developing the physical infrastructure, equipment purchases, and instrument qualification.

Conclusion

The radiopharmaceutical trials program at UHealth is currently thriving as a direct result of strategic and organizational change. Elements of the PPT Framework implemented at UHealth may be provide useful examples for other organizations seeking to initiate or expand radiopharmaceutical trials.
